The River was birthed in January 1994 by our mother church, The Coastlands, Aptos, CA. From our first gatherings in a home to today, we have emphasized the need for every person to be in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ His son. We believe that the church is a great place to learn how to grow in that relationship with God and with others. Through Christ, we have access to God, to His blessings for this life, and to eternal life.

The River is a member of a larger church family, the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. 

Our ultimate goal is to be “good news” to people around us everyday wherever we are and invite them into our lives, our faith, our church, and to grow a relationship with the Lord, Jesus Christ.

So, look around a bit on this site, call us if you have any questions and remember God loves you and has a spiritual family prepared just for you at this time in your life!

 The River’s Core Values

The Harvest:

• We believe the harvest is foremost.
• We believe that Jesus’ life and death was to seek and save the lost.
• We believe we are called to “proclaim” and be good news to those unbelievers around us.

The River: 

• We believe our church family is a part of Christ’s body, His bride.
• We believe that we are to be salt and light to our community.
• We believe that we must reproduce ourselves as the best means of reaching our community, region, and world.
• We believe we are called to “bring the lonely into family”.
• We believe it is our responsibility to teach all that Christ has taught us.

Leadership:

• We believe in equipping leaders to equip others.
• We believe in intentional leadership (spirit led and vision fed).
• We believe in the accountability of leaders to live exemplary lives.

Excellence: 

• We believe we should offer to God our first and our best.
• We believe that excellence in all we do is a form of whole-hearted worship to God.
• We believe we should not offer to God “that which costs us nothing”.

Prayer: 

• We believe prayer is essential for super-natural, eternal results.
• We believe prayer establishes our dependence on God.
• We believe prayer is not preparation for battle, it IS the battle.

Ministry: 

• We believe that God has a specific purpose for every believer in Jesus.
• We believe that God has endowed every Christian with spiritual gifts to accomplish that mission.
• We believe it is our responsibility to help identify the gifts of our members, and to release them into body ministry.
